Living in South Woodford
With roots dating back to the Saxon period, South Woodford is a suburb of Woodford which falls within the London Borough of Redbridge. Once part of Essex until 1965, the area has managed to retain its unique character. It’s appeal best suits families juggling both a hectic work/life balance with a more leisurely social life. There is always something to see and do, and all essential amenities are nearby. Commuters who work in the city will generally travel by train and commence their journey via the South Woodford Underground Station (Zone 4) which is only a 7-10 minute walk from the High Road. Using the Central Line then takes just over half an hour to reach central London. Alternatively, drivers have easy access to the M25 and M11 via the North Circular ring road plus the A1400, A12, and the A104. Bus routes 20, 123, 179, 549, W12, W13, W14 and N55 also serve the local area.
If you are a bit of a shopaholic or just like window shopping for pleasure, South Woodford has a diverse range of local independent shops intermingled with national chains all awaiting a visit. Shops are plentiful along the High Road, and Grange Road is home to The Galleria shopping mall. Copious coffee shops and restaurants embellish the local area providing hearty replenishment to the local community.
A visit to one of the many established hairdressers, barbers and beauty salons is for many a weekly routine that accompanies a great night out. South Woodford becomes a welcoming friendly town at night, providing an excellent choice of pubs and entertainment venues including our own Odeon Cinema situated along the high road right opposite our office.
Residents craving a weekend walk can visit Epping Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty. This is a special area of conservation connecting rivers, ponds and woodland that spans some 5,900 acres.
